Louisville (2-4) vs. Boston College (4-2) Game Preview
One Reason Why Louisville Will Win
AJ Dillon is still hurting.
Questionable at best with an ankle injury, the ACC’s best running back missed last week’s game against Boston College, and it showed in the loss to NC State. So far this year, the Cardinals are 4-0 when rushing for 220 yards or more, and 0-2 when going under the mark.
Throw out the problems against the Georgia Tech option attack last week – the Cardinals couldn’t figure out the option attack – but for the most part, the run defense has been okay allowing fewer than four yards per carry in three of the games.
On the other side, BC got picked apart for 308 yards to NC State’s Ryan Finley last week, and has allowed 200 yards or more through the air against every FBS team so far.
Jawon Pass has thrown for 605 yards and four touchdowns over the last two weeks. He hasn’t necessarily been the problem so far.
One Reason Why Boston College Will Win
Anthony Brown wasn’t able to come through against the Wolfpack with a win, and he couldn’t do anything against Purdue, but he’s been solid so far coming off a knee injury.
When it was about the passing game, he threw for 304 yards to beat Wake Forest, and he’s balancing things out well – but he needs his guy back.
And he needs his defense to come up with several takeaways.
Louisville has lost the turnover margin in every game but the win over WKU – it was even – with 14 giveaways and nine over the last three games, all losses.
Boston College lives on its ground game, solid all-around play, and takeaways, coming up with 16 so far and winning the turnover margin in every game but the loss to Purdue.
The pass rush is there to force more mistakes, and this offense knows how to take advantage of the opportunities.
What’s Going To Happen
In what has become a big of a must win for Boston College, and a definite one for Louisville, there will be plenty of desperation for each to pull out of the slump.
The Eagles will get more on defense, will be a +2 in turnover margin, and will hold on late. Louisville will play better than they have over the last few weeks, but the offense won’t be able to run, and the defense won’t stop the BC ground game no matter who’s toting the rock.
