Ball State (2-4) vs. Central Michigan (1-5) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Ball State has been interesting, and it’s been competitive, but it’s only won one game in the last five games including a loss last week against Northern Illinois.
The offense is moving the ball – it’s the best team in the MAC at converting on third downs – and the offensive line has been sound, but the team just isn’t able to win. It’s whiffing on too many chances to score on decent drives, and the run defense is a problem.
Central Michigan has been miserable on third downs, the special teams are a nightmare, the passing game has been lousy, and overall, the offense is the second-worst in college football. Other than that, everything is going great.
This is the week the Cardinals are finally on the right side of a close game, going +3 in turnover margin against the struggling Chippewas and dominating the time of possession battle.
You make your own breaks, but this has been a bit of a hard luck Ball State team that’s about to finally come up with something positive again thanks to a big game from QB Riley Neal.
