Air Force (2-4) vs. UNLV (2-4) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
Which team can potentially save its season?
That’s it for the team that loses, forget about a bowl game with a loss. UNLV is going on the road for three games in four weeks after this, and Air Force has Boise State ant a trip to Army to follow.
The Falcons haven’t been bad over the last few weeks, with a whole slew of close losses and a blowout win over Navy, but the team can’t quite get over the hump and pull out victories. Three of the four losses were by six points or fewer.
The rushing offense continues to be terrific, the run defense has been outstanding, and controlling the clock and games haven’t been an issue. However, they just can’t seem to come through in key moments in all of these tight games.
Fortunately for Air Force, UNLV hasn’t done enough to make games close.
The wheels have completely come off for the Rebels after losing QB Armani Rogers. The defense got ripped to shreds by New Mexico and Utah State – giving up a combined 109 points total and well over 200 yards in each game.
UNLV can’t get its offense going with QB Max Gilliam, the running attack has hit the skids, and there just aren’t enough big plays from the defense to make up for it.
The Rebels are way overdue for a decent performance, but even on a Friday night in front of a national audience, it’s not going to happen. The Air Force running game will be just good enough to take control from the start and not let it go.
