Wisconsin (1-0) vs. New Mexico (1-0) Game Preview
One Reason Why New Mexico Will Win
Yeah, it was just against Incarnate Word, but does the New Mexico offense really work again? Tevaka Tuioti threw for 327 yards and four scores in the revamped O, but the ground game wasn’t ignored with 319 yards and four scores.
Tuioti ran for 54 yards and a score.
The Lobo offense rolled at will, putting up 680 and 62 points, and now it has more than just a ground attack to roll out. After all of the problems and issues this offseason, it was the exact sort of start the team needed.
Now, everything needs to work to try putting the pressure on a Badger team that needed a little while to put away WKU. As the Lobos proved, they have the capability to get off to a hot start.
One Reason Why Wisconsin Will Win
Wisconsin’s defense isn’t Incarnate Word’s.
The Badger D shouldn’t have too much of a problem keying on Tuioti, and for all the work being done to work at a good tempo, that should only lead to a few long, long dry spells when the New Mexico offense is on the sidelines.
Wisconsin might have the ball for 40 minutes.
The bigger issue? New Mexico’s defense is about to have a very, very bad day.
The Incarnate Word offense destroyed the Lobos for 566 yards with big play after big play.
The balanced Badger attack is about to hit a whole lot of home runs.
What’s Going To Happen
New Mexico won’t get the time to operate that it enjoyed last week. Incarnate Word couldn’t get to Tuioti. Wisconsin will.
The Badger attack will come out hot and put up a huge number right away. The Lobos will get a few points and will stay alive for a quarter, but be stunned if Jonathan Taylor doesn’t hit 200 yards without breathing hard.
This is the week Alex Hornibrook dials it in. The throws he missed against WKU will be on target this week.
