How much do you believe in JT Daniels? Bryce Love won’t have two bad games in a row, even if USC goes all San Diego State on the Stanford star, but that’s not the issue. KJ Costello to JJ Arcega-Whiteside isn’t even the concern for the Trojans.
How can the kid who should be a senior in high school handle the national stage and spotlight on the road in a game of this magnitude? The D and running game will work fine, but if Daniels starts screwing up … he won’t. He won’t be amazing, but he’ll be good enough.

That sure as sure looked like a BYU team that had something figured out. Arizona looked and played like it didn’t have any answers, and the Cougars seemed like they had the right plan and the right confidence. The difference? Tanner Mangum is back to form – now they have a quarterback. Love Cal, love BYU and its swagger at home even more.

Boise State might seem like an easy call over UConn after the blowout win at Troy, but the public has gone hard on the Huskies. The line started out at a way-too-high 34 and now is down to a still-large 31.5. The Broncos will win, but there’s a chance that UCF is still that good, and UConn’s blowout loss wasn’t as horrible as it might appear. There’s enough of a passing game to put up a few points.

Be really, really careful with Arizona State. After being a punching bag all offseason for the Herm Edwards hire, there’s a chance he might have something brewing here if the UTSA win was any indication. The receiving corps is fabulous, Manny Wilkins is a solid veteran quarterback, and the pass rush brought it big-time.
Strange things happen really, really late in Pac-12 games, and there’s a chance that the Michigan State that showed up against Utah State might just get on the plane for Tempe. This isn’t the layup for Sparty that it appeared to be before the season. The line already went down a half a point to six. Watch it drop a bit further late Friday.

Never, ever dismiss just how flaky Washington State can be against inferior competition, but in what’s going to be an emotional home opener, watch out for the passing game that destroyed a great Wyoming defense to tear San Jose State apart. The Spartans were hit by UC Davis for 446 passing yards in the loss. Wazzu’s Gardner Minshew is about to go off.

And Finally …
Isn’t it wonderful to have Hawaii back again for our late night fun? It’s even better when it’s about to deliver the chaser.
Hawaii’s first two game totals were 77 and 100. Last week, Houston and Rice got to 72. In Honolulu, the point total?
And when you speak of me, speak well.
