Virginia Tech (1-0) vs. William & Mary (1-0) Game Preview
One Reason Why William & Mary Will Win
Maybe Virginia Tech is sleepy?
The Hokies are coming off the big win over Florida State on Monday night, and now they have the quick turnaround to get ready for a Tribe team with a nice passing game.
Shon Mitchell threw for 267 yards in the 14-7 win over Bucknell, doing a great job of controlling the clock and the game. This is going to be a beaten up Virginia Tech squad that will devote the minimum amount of effort after the high of what just happened.
The Tribe have to hope the Hokies are merely going through the motions.
One Reason Why Virginia Tech Will Win
William & Mary can throw, but the ground game will grind down to a dead stop.
The Virginia Tech defensive front won’t allow a thing – Bucknell was able to get into the Tribe backfield. As long as there aren’t any big plays from Mitchell, and if Josh Jackson can lead the way to two quick scoring drives, this thing should be over by the first quarter. This will be the game for the ground attack that wasn’t there in Tallahassee.
Expect the Hokies to run for 300 yards, mostly with the backups.
What’s Going To Happen
It’s the home opener. The intensity of the first few minutes alone should get the Hokies the lead, and then it’ll be coasting time. And then it will be time to gameplan and prepare for … East Carolina.
Virginia Tech took care of its heavy lifting in the opener. It’s not going to pour it on.
