Ten Best Predictions Against The Spread: Week 5

1. Michigan at Northwestern

LINE: Michigan -14.5, o/u: 46.5
ATS PICK: Michigan

These two came up with a few classics over the years, especially in Evanston. But Michigan won the last meeting in 2015 38-0 in Ann Arbor, and before that it found a way at Northwestern with a 10-9 thriller – sort of (it was ugly until the finish).

But Michigan has found its mojo over the last few weeks, the offense is ramping up, the defense is still amazing, and it’s crushing everyone.

49-3 over Western Michigan, 45-20 over SMU, and last week, 56-10 over Nebraska. Of course all of those were at home, but Northwestern isn’t doing much of anything anywhere.

The Wildcats are rested, but they’re also coming off a 39-34 collapse against Akron.

The couldn’t do much of anything against Duke, and they should’ve lost to Purdue. And now they don’t have their top running back.

Jeremy Larkin was forced to retire after a dangerous neck/spine condition was discovered. He was the one part of the offense that was working.

Will Northwestern rally in a tribute game? Will the two weeks off help? Maybe, but Michigan is playing way, way too well.

Without Larkin, this isn’t going to be the time or the defense to start finding an explosive offense. Michigan isn’t going to give up more than 14 points, if that many.

If the Wolverines really are as good as they looked over the last three weeks, and Northwestern really is that bad, a two touchdown win shouldn’t be an issue.
