Penn State (2-0) vs. Kent State (1-1) Game Preview
One Reason Why Kent State Will Win
The FlashFast offense is actually working.
It’s not quite going ballistic yet, but after years and years and years of nothing. the Golden Flash attack is showing something early on with Auburn transfer quarterback Woody Barrett running new head coach Sean Lewis’s offense well.
Okay, so ripping up Howard is no big deal, but the O moved against Illinois and almost pulled off the shocker. This is a quick attack that relies on Barrett making the running game work and keeping defenses on their heels. On the other side, with seven sacks in the first two games, there’s just enough of a pass rush to give the Nittany Lions problems.
One Reason Why Penn State Will Win
It’s possible to get to Barrett. As improved as the Kent State offense might be, it’s still having big problems keeping defenses out of the backfield.
Even if the Golden Flash attack does work, it’s to going to be able to keep up with what the Nittany Lions want to do.
Trace McSorley has yet to throw a pick, and offensive line hasn’t been bad so far at keeping him upright, and there’s an almost perfect balance happening with the attack.
Best of all, Penn State isn’t screwing up. It’s not committing penalties and it’s not turning the ball over on a regular basis. Kent State has given it up six times.
What’s Going To Happen
This is a better, more fun Kent State team – again, there’s an actual offense to worry about. But Penn State will keep the momentum going from the blowout win over Pitt with the offense getting out to a hot start. It’ll take its foot off the gas – the Golden Flashes will score late – but don’t expect a whole lot of drama.
