Oregon (2-0) vs. San Jose State (0-2) Game Preview
One Reason Why San Jose State Will Win
For all of the problems the Spartans are having this season, they’re able to force takeaways with four so far – all interceptions – and the defense has been surprisingly good on third downs.
The offense has just enough to push the passing game a bit more after a rough day against Washington State. Montel Aaron threw for 254 yards and two scores against UC Davis.
Tyler Nevens needs the ball more and a little room, but get him going and he can give the Spartans a running game. Oregon’s defense has yet to be tested by anyone who can do much on the ground. SJSU has to at least give it a try.
One Reason Why Oregon Will Win
Yeah, San Jose State is able to pick off a few passes, but that’s after getting roasted by big passing games.
Playing Washington State hasn’t helped, but so far the Spartans were destroyed by UC Davis for 446 yards and against the Cougars for 420. Get Justin Herbert going early, and that’s it – San Jose State won’t be able to do much to keep up. If it does, just start throwing again and all will be fine.
There’s no Spartan running game to speak of so far – the offense has to try throwing to keep up. Throw in the problems with penalties and the lack of offensive punch in general, and the Ducks should have this with just a few drives.

What’s Going To Happen
There won’t be any drama. Oregon will get up huge in the first quarter, San Jose State will struggle to get anything going to mount any sort of a challenge, and it’ll be bench-emptying time by the second half.
