Oregon (1-0) vs. Portland State (0-1) Game Preview
One Reason Why Portland State Will Win
For all of the good things Oregon did in the blowout win over Bowling Green, Justin Herbert only completed 10-of-21 passes, and backup Braxton Burmeister only connected on one of his five throws.
The Ducks exploded, and they won with ease, but between the accuracy issues and the three turnovers, it wasn’t the smoothest of performances. Allowing close to 400 yards of total Falcon offense wasn’t great, either.
The Vikings have a passing game. Against Nevada, Charlie Taumoepeau lit it up in the first half, catching three passes for 130 yards and two scores. But …
One Reason Why Oregon Will Win
Portland State lost in a 72-19 squeaker.
The Nevada passing game fired at will, the running game rumbled for 216 yards and four scores, and the offense had fun doing anything it wanted to after an okay first quarter.
Yes, Oregon struggled with its passing accuracy, but it also cranked up close to 300 passing yards with five touchdowns. If Nevada can put up 636 yards and 72 points on the Portland State D, and if it can average 15 yards per throw … look out.
What’s Going To Happen
Oregon will have this thing done by halftime and get everyone rested up and ready for … San Jose State. The Ducks aren’t exactly extending themselves to start the season.
As long as they can cut down on the turnovers, and as long as the passing attack can look and be a bit sharper with the passing game, this will work.
