Missouri (1-0) vs. Wyoming (1-1) Game Preview

One Reason Why Wyoming Will Win

Forget for a moment the ugly blowout loss to Washington State last week. Wyoming has the type of defense that can make Missouri’s life awful.

The secondary has the toughness to hold up under the pressure that’s coming, and the takeaways will start coming soon – this group is too experienced and too good not to start forcing mistakes.

If the secondary can hold up, the rest of the defense should do its job against a questionable Mizzou ground game that struggled to get going against UT Martin. Get pressure on QB Drew Lock from the start, and then hope for the best.

One Reason Why Missouri Will Win

It should take too much to put this away.

Get up early, and the Cowboys won’t have the offensive pop to get back in the game.

Nico Evans and the running attack have been strong, but the passing game hasn’t shown up in the first two games. Against Washington State, the Cowboys committed 13 penalties and didn’t play their type of game. But the Cougars had something to do with that.

Gardner Minshew and the Wazzu passing game cranked up 319 yards and three scores. Lock – coming off an efficient 289-yard, four-score day against UT Martin – should be fine as long as he doesn’t force anything. He’s a good enough veteran to not give up the picks UW will need.

What’s Going To Happen

Wyoming will make amends for the Washington State game with a far, far better defensive performance. However, the line won’t get to Lock enough, and the offense won’t be able to take advantage of the chances the D will provide.

Yeah, Wyoming got rocked by Washington State 41-19, but the avalanche didn’t come until late. It’s going to hang around for a full four quarters, but the offense won’t get the job done.
