Michigan (1-1) vs. SMU (0-2) Game Preview
One Reason Why SMU Will Win
There have been a whole slew of issues so far, but the defense has been able to get into the backfield. The pass rush hasn’t been anything great, but the D lived in the North Texas backfield, and it was even able to do a few good things against TCU.
The Michigan offensive line hasn’t been anything special so far. It improved against Western Michigan last week, but it’s been hit with five sack and 12 tackles for loss over the first two games.
With the Mustang offense sputtering and struggling, SMU has to sell out and force Shea Patterson and the Wolverine attack to screw up. But …
One Reason Why Michigan Will Win
The SMU offense is having a whole lot of problems. The Michigan defense isn’t the one to go against if it wants to get healthy.
The Wolverine secondary has been a rock over the first two games – outside of one key pass play against Notre Dame – and the D as a whole has allowed just 560 yards so far.
The SMU offense has been a total disaster on third downs, meaning it’s among the worst in the country in time of possession – the Sonny Dykes attack isn’t working.
All Michigan has to do is come up with a few early scores, and this thing is over.
What’s Going To Happen
Western Michigan, Part 2.
If you liked what the offense did against the Broncos, you’re going to love what’s about to happen against a Mustang defense that’s about to get hit for well over 500 yards of Wolverine offense.
Michigan’s defense will give up an early score, and that will be it. The Mustangs aren’t going to have the ball for more than 22 minutes.
