Maryland (1-0) vs. Bowling Green (0-1) Game Preview
One Reason Why Bowling Green Will Win
The defense might have melted down in the second quarter against Oregon, but the offense showed some production throughout the 58-24 loss.
Jarret Doege threw well, Scott Miller caught 13 passes for 166 yards and two scores, and Andrew Clair ran for over 100 yards. There’s just enough of an attack to potentially keep up for a while, especially at home, and especially against a team coming off the emotional performance against Texas.
One Reason Why Maryland Will Win
It’s amazing what happens when you have a healthy quarterback.
Kasim Hill was able to go against Texas, and he threw for 222 yards and a score. Tyrrell Pigrome was able to get into the game, too, hitting 3-of-4 throws. And now, the Terps have an offense again.
Bowling Green’s defense won’t be able to stop the run like the Longhorns could.
Defensively, Maryland was able to come up with three key takeaways late in the game, it held Texas to under four yards per carry, and it was fantastic on third downs. Unlike last week, the Terp front four will get to the quarterback.
What’s Going To Happen
Maryland will keep it all rolling.
The momentum of the win over Texas will carry over to the strange road trip to a MAC school, but it’ll be the effectiveness and toughness of the lines that will be the difference.
Give it a quarter – sort of like Bowling Green’s game against Oregon – and then the Turtle will have this in hand.
