Liberty (1-2) vs. New Mexico (2-1) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
The New Mexico offense has its guy back.
QB Tevaka Tuioti came up with a good early drive against Wisconsin, and then got knocked out of the game with a concussion. Now he’s about to get the offense up and rolling again.
It wasn’t that bad without him in the win over New Mexico State, but now the thing should go faster, and be more effective. It was just getting started before he got hurt, but he should be able to help the ground game roll against Liberty.
The Flames started out hot with a blowout win over Old Dominion – the one that beat Virginia Tech – but the run defense hasn’t been remotely close, allowing close to 800 yards and nine touchdowns over the last two weeks.
Granted, it was against Army and North Texas, but at home, New Mexico is about to do the same with Tuioti back. But the New Mexico defense won’t be a rock – it’s going to be a bit of a fight against a decent Flame attack.
But the inability to stop the Lobo run game will be too much to overcome in the second half.
