Kentucky (2-0) vs. Murray State (0-2) Game Preview
One Reason Why Murray State Will Win
Can the Wildcats hold on to the ball?
UK made up for the problems with two takeaways against Florida, but it turned it over four times against Central Michigan and twice against the Gators. The Racers might have a whole slew of problems, but they’ve been able to force takeaways with five in the first two games.
The pass rush is solid, and the field position should be in MSU’s favor thanks to a strong punting game, but …
One Reason Why Kentucky Will Win
Murray State can’t throw the ball and it doesn’t have the offense to keep up any sort of past. The Racers have scored just 23 points in the first two games, doing a miserable job on third downs.
The offensive pieces aren’t there to keep the chains moving.
Kentucky has been amazing so far on third downs, converting on a whopping 61.5% of its tries so far including a 9-of-13 day against Florida.
As long as the team’s head isn’t too into the clouds, and if the offense can get Benny Snell rolling on the ground from the start, there won’t be any problems.
What’s Going To Happen
There’s a chance the Wildcats are looking ahead to the showdown against Mississippi State next week, but it won’t matter. Murray State doesn’t have the offense to do much of anything after the a sluggish first quarter.
It’ll be a fun game for the Wildcats after breaking the 31-year losing streak to Florida. And now the team will start to play with a whole new confidence – in the second half.
