Heisman Trophy Race After Week 3

1. QB Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

Alabama got down 7-0 right out of the gate, and then Tua Tagovailoa and the offense reeled off 62 unanswered points in breathtaking fashion.

Tagovailoa only threw for 191 yards, but he wasn’t needed all that long for the Tide offense to get the job done.

Yeah, he missed on four throws, but he made 11 of the 15 passes he made, and he was able to do this …

And about the concern that he might make a few too many mistakes after getting the starting nod?

He’s hitting 72% of his throws for 646 yards and eight touchdowns … with no picks.

While he’s not running all that often, he’s getting positive yards when needed, running 14 times for 93 yards and a score on the year.

Alabama is 3-0, outscoring opponents by a combined total of 170-28.

Yeah, the move to make him the No. 1 guy seems to be working out okay.
