What’s Going To Happen
Hawaii was able to handle the Navy option attack – sort of – in a 59-41 win, and it held up to beat Rice 43-29. But those were at home.
Army sort of got its groove back against Liberty last week, but with Oklahoma coming up next, a loss to the Rainbow Warriors will almost certainly mean a 1-3 start. The schedule eases up over the second half, but a win could be a must to ease any concerns about getting bowl eligible – there are two games against FCSers to play late in the year.
Can the Hawaii linebackers and defensive front handle the Army ground game? Short answer … not really.
Navy ran for 326 yards, and now Army can throw a little bit as well as run. It cranked up 449 yards and four scores against Liberty.
Can the Army defensive backs hold up against the Hawaii air attack? Short answer … not really.
Cole McDonald and company have been incredible so far, with the passing game coming up with close to 1,200 yards with 13 touchdowns and no picks in the first three games.
But the O won’t have the ball.
Even running the run-and-shoot, Hawaii is been able to control the clock and games, but Army is No. 1 in the country in time of possession, keeping it for close to 39 minutes.
The Black Knights will do that again, grinding out a few late drives to keep McDonald off the field. The Hawaii offense will work – it won’t get enough chances.
