Georgia Tech (1-1) vs. Pitt (1-1) Game Preview
One Reason Why Georgia Tech Will Win
Can Pitt haven’t a high-powered running game? The jury is still out.
It couldn’t do much against the Penn State ground game, and now has to deal with a desperate team that needs to control the clock and the tempo from the start. The Panther defense that hasn’t been great on third downs should have an issue.
The bigger Pitt problem is an offense that’s way too turnover-prone. It has given it away five times so far, and it’s pressed way too much with a passing game that’s not going anywhere. At least, it didn’t last week against the Nittany Lions.
Pitt threw for just 55 yards averaging 3.1 yards per throw, and now it has to go against a Yellow Jacket secondary that’s been solid so far.
One Reason Why Pitt Will Win
Is TaQuon Marshall’s foot okay? The Yellow Jacket quarterback injured his toe in the loss to USF, but he’s expected to be okay for this week. The Georgia Tech offense needs him to be 100%.
The Pitt offense might be having problems with giveaways – turning it over five times so far – but Georgia Tech has turned it over six.
No, Panther QB Ben DiNucci isn’t as bad as he looked against USF – he’ll be sharper. The running game was a bright spot against Penn State, terming off 245 yards even though the passing game struggled.
How do you slow down the Georgia Tech offense? Go on long, good marches with the running game and keep the chains moving. Pitt can do that.
What’s Going To Happen
Get ready for a bounce back performance for the Pitt offense, and especially DiNucci. He’ll be good, but the running game will be the difference, with Pitt being as balanced against Georgia Tech as USF was last week.
Marshall will play and have his moments, but the Georgia Tech O won’t dominate the time of possession battle like it needs to.
Both teams will play with a sense of desperation, but Pitt will be sharper.
