Air Force (1-0) at Florida Atlantic (0-1)
Time, Network: 2:00, Stadium | Get Tickets
Venue: FAU Football Stadium, Boca Raton, FL
Florida Atlantic might have looked miserable against Oklahoma in the 63- 14 loss, but the Sooners might just be that good. The Owls were ripped to shreds from the first quarter on, with the defending Conference USA champs looking totally and completely overmatched. Now they get someone their own size.
Air Force got the ground game rolling in the 38-0 win over Stony Brook with 333 yards and four scores, but now the Falcons are about to deal with the real FAU team. The Owls are going to move the ball early on, they’re going to score enough in the first quarter to make Air Force press, and then the defense will do the rest.
A banged up Arion Worthman won’t be able to connect on the deep passes to take advantage of an Owl D that will play, far, far better than it did in Norman.
Fearless Prediction & Line
Prediction: Florida Atlantic 30, Air Force 27
Line: Florida Atlantic -9.5, o/u: 66
ATS Confidence out of 5: 3
Appalachian State (0-1) at Charlotte (1-0)
Time, Network: 6:00, ESPN+ | Get Tickets
Venue: McColl-Richardson Field, Charlotte, NC
After a miserable 2017 season, Charlotte needed to come up with a strong start to the season, and it got it with a 34-10 win over Fordham. Benny LeMay ran for 135 yards and two scores, the passing game worked, and this was exactly what the offense was supposed to do. But now it’s about to run into the Appalachian State defensive wall.
The Mountaineers will build off of their heartbreaking overtime loss to Penn State, but Zac Thomas and the passing game will roll for over 300 yards against the 49er secondary, and the defense will hold up against LeMay and keep the ground game from getting over 150 yards. ASU will bounce back strong, but this isn’t last year’s Charlotte – it’s not going to get rolled.
Fearless Prediction & Line
Prediction: Appalachian State 34, Charlotte 16
Line: Appalachian State -14, o/u: 48.5
ATS Confidence out of 5: 3
Eastern Kentucky (1-0) at Marshall (1-0)
Time, Network: 6:30, ESPN+ | Get Tickets
Venue: Joan C. Edwards Stadium, Huntington, WV
Eastern Kentucky ran up over 400 yards on the ground with four scores in the win over Morehead State, and now the Colonels are about to give Marshall a whole lot of issues.
The Herd managed to survive Miami University and Gus Ragland’s 357 passing yards with a 35-28 win, but the run defense held up well. Isaiah Green stepped up with a good day through the air – star grad transfer Alex Thomson was banged up, but Green was great this offseason. The MU offense will go off against EKU in a fun shootout. The Colonels will get their points and yards, but the Herd will survive a four quarter fight.
