Charlotte (2-1) vs. UMass (1-3) Game Preview
What’s Going To Happen
The UMass defense has been really, really awful.
It’s giving up way too many first downs, it’s awful against the run, and it’s not doing enough to get into the backfield. The Charlotte offensive front hasn’t been anything great, but this week it might get a break.
The 49ers have been fantastic against the run, but it gives up big plays through the air – and there’s the problem. The shake secondary is about to get hammered hard.
It’s been an inconsistent UMass passing game, but the yards are there, hitting the 200-yard mark for each of the last four games. It’s throwing too many picks – five in the last three games – but it should be able to overcome the mistakes with plenty of big plays. After a rough game against FIU, the Minutemen will be sharper.
It’s been a rough run, but at home, the desperate Minutemen will get the air show going, even with quarterbacks Andrew Ford and Ross Comis banged up. If needed, Michael Curtis will be ready to do more this week.
