Boston College (2-0) vs. Wake Forest (2-0) Game Preview
One Reason Why Boston College Will Win
Yeah, Wake Forest is 2-0, but it’s been a rocky 2-0.
The pass defense hasn’t been great, the offense hasn’t been consistent, and there have been too many turnovers, giving it up five times so far. And it has only played Tulane and Towson so far.
Boston College has been a machine over its first two games. Okay, it plays UMass and Holy Cross, but it’s been fantastic at not screwing up with just one giveaway. the running game is averaging 319 yards per game, and the O is scoring at will.
Yes, the mediocre schedule isn’t anything to get too fired up about, but this is what you wanted to see out of a Boston College team – especially Anthony Brown.
The knee injury hasn’t been a problem, and overall the three quarterback who have seen time have combined to hit 79% of their passes for 571 yards and eight scores and now picks. Yes, your Boston College Eagles lead the nation in passing efficiency.
One Reason Why Wake Forest Will Win
The offense might be a bit too inconsistent, and it’s not putting the biscuit in the basket in the red zone, but it’s been able to keep the chains moving and the O line has been great so far.
And the attack has been putting up yards. That’s why you play Tulane and Towson to start the season, especially without the regular starting quarterback – Kendall Hinton has been out suspended. Now the team has had a few games to work.
The biggest key this week will be pressure. UMass and Holy Cross weren’t able to do much of anything to get behind the line and give the BC backfield any issues, but Wake Forest can do that.
Granted, it hasn’t helped with the bottom line of passing yards allowed, but the Demon Deacons lead all ACC teams os far with eight sacks. The defense has to make the Eagles uncomfortable.
What’s Going To Happen
Boston College is going to keep the fun going. Brown is going to overcome the Wake Forest pass rush and AJ Dillon is going to pound away on a D that hasn’t been tested yet by anyone’s ground attack. He only has 26 carries in two games – he only needed six carries to rip off 149 yards and three scores in the win over Holy Cross. He’s fresh, and it’ll show.
And then everyone will get out of town as soon as possible.
The game time has been moved up because of the hurricane fears, and it’s still on. But if the game clock goes quickly, no one will complain.
