What happened and what mattered in the Week 4 of the Big 12 college football season?
5. The “other” games
– The “other” games
The Iowa State offense did what it had to in a 26-13 win over Akron, but it has to do so much more. The O stalled too many times, relying on four Connor Assalley field goals that should’ve finished off touchdown drives. David Montgomery ran for 107 yards and a score, and Zeb Noland hit 26-of-34 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown, but again, the missed opportunities have to be cleaned up.
Well … that was fun while it lasted. Kansas couldn’t get the O going in a 26-7 loss to Baylor, but it was more about Charlie Brewer and the Bear passing attack taking over right away. He hit 19-of-27 passes for 221 yards and three scores, and the defense did its part allowing just 271 yards of Jayhawk offense. The big key? Zero turnovers to a KU D that forced 12 over the last two weeks.
