2. Ohio State 40, TCU 28
TCU hung around.
Yeah, TCU fans and many others were thinking that on coaching, schemes, and the toughness of the Horned Frogs they’d be able to pull off the win over Ohio State. But that’s a special team that’s overloaded with NFL talent, and it turned out to be close.
TCU is well past moral victories under Gary Patterson, but this really and truly is a national championship-level Buckeye squad, and with 154 rushing yards from Darius Anderson – with a 93-yard scoring dash – and with Shawn Robinson keeping the foot on the gas with 308 yards and a score, it was a fight.
Again, it’s little consolation at this point, but even in a 12-point loss, the Horned Frogs proved they could go toe-to-toe with the best.
There’s still plenty of hope going forward.
This is still a good enough team to get to the Big 12 Championship game, and it’s still a good enough team to win it.
It just hunt up 511 yards on a defense loaded with future NFL starters.
Beat Texas next week, and all will be fine. But first, TCU has to somehow take this loss as a confidence-booster, because that’s really what it is.
