3. Oklahoma State 44, Boise State 21
Remember, this Boise State team blew away Troy in Troy … and Troy just beat Nebraska in Nebraska.
And Oklahoma State rose up and rocked one of the Group of Five’s best teams.
Taylor Cornelius threw for 342 yards and a score, and ran for 41 yards and two touchdowns. Justice Hill – who hasn’t been used much this season – ran 15 times for 123 yards and a score, and the big plays were there from the receiving corps.
By gametime, Boise State was the favorite, and Oklahoma State just rose up and showed that it really is one of the better teams in the Big 12, and it deserves to be considered one of the true players in the title chase.
The defense is going to be the defense – it’s going to struggle at times.
The run defense was amazing, but Brett Rypien threw for 380 yards and three scores. The Cowboys will have to get used to big days from Kyler Murray, Shawn Robinson, Will Grier, and the rest of the Big 12 offenses, but it showed it can take that offensive punch and still win by double digits.
Within reason, with Texas Tech, Kansas, Iowa State and Kansas State up next, it’s time to go on a run, and no longer be the quiet team in the Big 12.
