Yeah, the matchups didn’t matter to the national college football landscape, but to the investment crowd, Wyoming was found money, and to those who like fun games, it’s not going to get much better than Hawaii at Colorado State and the Rice comeback against Prairie View A&M.
Will it all matter in the College Football Playoff world? Of course not.
Should Week 0 have at least SOME good teams from Power 5 programs? Of course.
Should there the opening of college football be more important and have more of a national splash? Yeah, it stinks that the NFL preseason was a bigger deal.
But college football can really be a whole lot of fun. The more games there are, the more chance there are to enjoy the actual game.
Rice and Hawaii showed that.
