5. At least four schools will change head coaches after the year
Unlike the Pac-12 and the SEC, the Big 12 went through an offseason of head coaching stability. with all ten head coaches still around – somewhat miraculously.
That’s about to change.
Bless David Beaty’s heart.
He’s trying in a rough situation at Kansas, and he got a contract extension after going 3-33 in his first three seasons.
Everyone loves Kliff Kingsbury, but he’s 30-33 in his first five seasons with three losing campaigns in the last four at Texas Tech.
Matt Campbell also got a contract extension at Iowa State, but if he has one more strong season, he’s going to be too good to not be on the wish list of several bigger programs.
Mike Gundy might seem like a lifer at Oklahoma State, but he’s way, way overdue to pivot to another gig – cough, LSU, cough.
And then there’s Bill Snyder. Hopefully he’s coaching for at least another decade, but the dude is going to be 79 this year.
Expect four of those five head coaches moving on to other opportunities.
Snyder might just be the one who’s still around.
