Arkansas State (0-0) vs. SE Missouri State (0-0) Game Preview

The SE Missouri State Redhawks lost to Kansas last season.

By 22.

There’s not a whole lot to get excited about with just ten returning starters, but SEMO has a decent defensive front and lost a slew of close games.

With Alabama coming up next for Arkansas State, it has to have its fun now. If everything is humming, this shouldn’t be close.

One Reason Why SE Missouri State Will Win

The pass rush that was sixth in the FCS has to be fantastic throughout. Give ASU QB Justice Hansen time, and forget about it.

The Redhawks have a sound nose tackle in Reggie Miles to gum up the interior, and the linebacking tandem of Devin Alexander and Zach Hall is strong. Somehow, SEMO has to get off the field and can’t let the Red Wolves go on long, sustained drives.

ASU and Hansen will come up with the chances for picks. The Redhawk defensive backs have to take advantage of every opportunity.

One Reason Why Arkansas State Will Win

SEMO doesn’t have the firepower to keep up if ASU goes off.

There might be a few replacements coming at receiver, and the inconsistent offense has to stop giving the ball away, but with four starters back up front to protect Hansen, the production should be there.

There are enough veterans back to come close to the 500 yards per game the Red Wolves generated last season, and the Redhawks are trying to break in a new starting quarterback.

Marquis Terry is a good running back behind a veteran line, but the players aren’t there to keep up the pace if Hansen goes off.

What’s Going To Happen

The ASU offense will take target practice from the start, and it won’t let up until the third quarter.

SEMO only gets back one starter to a secondary that got ripped up for over ten yards per throw – Hansen will have no problems bombing away.

The Red Wolves should have this out of reach in the second quarter.
