The 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championship Odds: What’s the best bet, who’ll win, and what are the best values?
The latest Sun Belt Conference Championship Odds are out from the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook. Who’ll win, what’s the best long shot and what’s the best value?
Arkansas State 5/4
Appalachian State 5/2
Georgia Southern 12/1
Georgia State 30/1
South Alabama 50/1
Coastal Carolina 100/1
Texas State 100/1
The Right Play
Arkansas State: Remembering that the Sun Belt is now split into two divisions, the Red Wolves are the solid call at 5/4 only because it’ll take a stunner to not get into the championship game. Appalachian State and Troy are going to battle it out in the East, but the gap between Arkansas State and the rest of the West is large.
The Best Value
Appalachian State: The Mountaineers are only coming in at 5/2, but the value of the odds are better than Troy at 9/5. Best of all, ASU gets the Trojans in Boone on November 24th to end the regular season. Make the call that the Mountaineers take the East and get by the other ASU – Arkansas State – from the West.
Stay Away From …
Georgia State: The Panthers aren’t bad, and at 30/1 they might be tempting, but they have to go to Troy, Appalachian State, and Arkansas State – good luck with that. It’ll be a fight just to get bowl eligible again, much less with the East, much less win the Sun Belt.
The Top Longshot
Texas State: Oh why not? Well, because Texas State hasn’t done much of anything over the last several years, but the recruiting hasn’t been bad, and the Sun Belt sometimes has a way of seeing a team go from zero to hero in a hurry. At 100/1, it’s a crazy flier, but there might be just enough in place to still be alive late in the far, far easier West. Best of all, the Bobcats gets Arkansas State in San Marcos.
