1. Crank out another Big Ten Championship

As amazing as Ohio State is and has been, it has only been in three of the seven Big Ten Championship games and won two. Michigan State has been in three and won two, too, and Wisconsin has been in five and won two.

To be fair, the 2012 version would’ve been in the title game instead of the Badgers had there not been issues with the end of the Jim Tressel era, but it’s not like Ohio State has owned the Big Ten Championship game.

As good as the Buckeyes have been, they haven’t gone through a regular season unbeaten in the last four years, and when they did in 2013, they lost to Michigan State and missed out on the CFP.

They likely won’t be 12-0 before facing Wisconsin again – or the team good enough to knock off another loaded Badger team. If they’re 11-1 and lose the Big Ten Championship, they’re almost certainly out.

If they’re 12-0 and lose the Big Ten Championship, they might still be really, really close to getting in depending on what happens with the rest of the Power Five leagues – but they obviously don’t want to tempt fate with that.

If they’re 12-1 with a Big Ten title, they’re in – the other Power Five champs won’t all be unbeaten.

If they’re 13-0 with a Big Ten title, they’re guaranteed to be in the final four – where they probably should’ve been last season.
