The 2018 American Athletic Conference Championship Odds: What’s the best bet, who’ll win, and what are the best values?
The latest American Athletic Conference Championship Odds are out from the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook. Who’ll win, what’s the best long shot and what’s the best value?
East Carolina 500/1
The Right Play
Houston: Even with the Cougars going to Memphis for the regular season finale, they’re still the safer pick to at least get to the American Athletic Conference title game than anyone in the East. UCF and USF are a bit of a toss up on the other side – the Knights have to go to Tampa for the regular season finale. Even at 5/2, Houston is a decent call.
The Best Value
USF: Considering the odds UCF, Houston and Memphis are getting, and with Navy at 8/1, go ahead and take advantage of the Bulls at a not-bad 7/1. Again, they get UCF at home late in the regular season, and even with a date at Houston they should be strong enough to get to the final weekend with a shot at at least getting to the AAC Championship.
Stay Away From …
Memphis: It’s a very, very good team again, but it’s rebuilding a wee bit offensively and the defense isn’t going to be anything special. It’s a good enough team with a good enough coaching staff to absolutely pull off another West championship and even potentially win the American Athletic, however, at 3/1 odds, it’s not worth it compared to USF at 7/1 or even Navy at 8/1.
The Top Longshot
Temple: It took a year to reload a bit, with with a dangerous offense and more than enough defense to get by, the 2017 American Athletic Conference champs have the upside to bounce back and come up with a huge season. The problem? They have to go to Navy and Houston, and the UCF date is on the road, too. At 25/1, it’s a safer go-for-broke pick than 40/1 Cincinnati – the other decent option.
