2018 Regular Season Win Totals: Ranking & Predicting The Best Bets By Conference

By

Pac-12

The win totals are out from the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook. The projected totals are based on regular season games only, and not conference championships or bowl appearances.

The rankings are based on projected safest and most confident investment calls and predictions to the least confident.

1. USC 8.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 10
The Trojans will be undervalued because of the losses in the offensive backfield. The defense will take care of things on the way to a ten-win run, but that includes a projected win at Texas.
CFN 2018 USC Preview

2. Arizona 7.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 9
The Wildcats have to own Tucson, but they’ll have too much explosion not to blow past the 7.5.
CFN 2018 Arizona Preview

3. UCLA 5.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 6
Really? … REALLY? Chip Kelly isn’t going to get this team to six wins and a bowl? It’ll be dicey if the Bruins lost to Fresno State, but they’ll find a way to get over the 5.5.
CFN 2018 UCLA Preview

4. Cal 5.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 6
The team is too experienced and the coaching staff too good to not get to a bowl game. It’ll be tough over the second half, though.
CFN 2018 Cal Preview

5. Oregon State 2.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 4
Over, over, over. The Beavers will beat Southern Utah and they should win at Nevada. They’ll pull off at least one Pac-12 win, too.
CFN 2018 Oregon State Preview

6. Utah 7

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
And the eight-win projection might be way too low. Start with wins over Weber State, at Northern Illinois and BYU, and just assume the team will be good enough to win at least four Pac-12 games.
CFN 2018 Utah Preview

7. Stanford 8.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
There are way too many losable Pac-12 games, there’s the trip to Notre Dame, and there’s the opener against San Diego State. The Cardinal will be good, but there are four losses coming.
CFN 2018 Stanford Preview

8. Colorado 5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 5
It’ll all come down to the finishing kick against Utah and at Cal to go over. The Buffs will lose both.
CFN 2018 Colorado Preview

9. Oregon 8.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
Oregon has the talent to get to nine wins, but can it beat the good teams this year? The schedule works out well to get over.
CFN 2018 Oregon Preview

10. Washington 10

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 11
It all comes down to the opener against Auburn. If you think the Huskies will pull off the win, they’ll get to 11. The under is the far safer play, though.
CFN 2018 Washington Preview

11. Washington State 6

CFN Preseason Win Projection:
It’s all about the opener at Wyoming. Pick the Cowboys, and Wazzu will have a hard time getting to six. This is a bit of a rebuilding season.
CFN 2018 Washington State Preview

12. Arizona State 4.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 4
Yuck … stay away from this one. The Sun Devils have road games at San Diego State, Washington, USC, Oregon and Arizona, and home dates against Michigan State, Stanford, Utah and UCLA. There’s too much risk with the 4.5.

1. Arkansas 5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 7
The Hogs get Eastern Illinois, at Colorado State, North Texas and Tulsa in non-conference play. The five-win total is a gift from the gods.
CFN 2018 Arkansas Preview

2. Tennessee 5.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 6
Oh, come on. Tennessee is going to be better than it was last year, Jeremy Pruitt will work out great as the head man, and there’s no way the Vols aren’t going bowling with wins over ETSU, UTEP and Charlotte in the bank as a base.
CFN 2018 Tennessee Preview

3. South Carolina 7

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
Georgia, Georgia, Georgia. Win that game at home, and get past the seven-win mark with ease. Lose, and the Gamecocks will at least match it.
CFN 2018 South Carolina Preview

4. Vanderbilt 4.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 3
The Commodores aren’t a lock to get by Middle Tennessee or Nevada, and they’ll be the underdogs in every other game but the Tennessee State layup.
CFN 2018 Vanderbilt Preview

5. LSU 7.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
It’s LSU. It’s going to win at least eight games even with all the doom and gloom predicted. However, that probably means it has to beat Miami in the opener. If you like the Canes, go with the under.
CFN 2018 LSU Preview

6. Missouri 7.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 7
Go under, mainly because two projected wins – Wyoming, with its nasty D, and at Purdue – are hardly sure things. That goes for the home date with Memphis, too.
CFN 2018 Missouri Preview

7. Florida 8

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
If you’re going to go anywhere with this other than the total, go the under. The Gators will win at least six games with ease, but that’s assuming wins over Tennessee, Mizzou and South Carolina to get to eight.
CFN 2018 Florida Preview

8. Mississippi State 8

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 7
At Kansas State on September 8th. That’s going to be the difference between getting to eight and going under the mark. At LSU, at Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M. The Bulldogs have to win at least one of those, maybe two, to go over.
CFN 2018 Mississippi State Preview

9. Georgia 10.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 10
Remember, Georgia got to the SEC Championship and the CFP in a year when the SEC East was absolutely miserable. It’s not going to be that bad again. The Dawgs have to go to LSU and South Carolina, and there are just enough landmines to project two losses somehow. (Hint: be careful at cocktail parties.)
CFN 2018 Georgia Preview

10. Texas A&M 7.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 8
Clemson, at Alabama, at South Carolina, at Auburn. Start with those four brutal games, throw in a road trip to Mississippi State and a home game against LSU, and it’ll be struggle. But Jimbo should get them to eight wins.
CFN 2018 Texas A&M Preview

11. Kentucky 5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 5
Central Michigan, Murray State, Vanderbilt – coming off an open date – and Middle Tennessee. There should be an upset somewhere, but finding a few more isn’t going to be easy.
CFN 2018 Kentucky Preview

12. Auburn 9.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 9
It’ll come down to the opener against Washington. If the Tigers win, they’ll get to ten victories. If they don’t, it’ll be nine. The preseason pick has been the Huskies in an upset, but if you don’t believe in that, the over is fine.
CFN 2018 Auburn Preview

13. Ole Miss 5.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 5
It took an epic performance and a horrific injury for Ole Miss to get by Mississippi State to get to six wins last year. It’ll be a struggle this season. However, if if the Rebels beat Texas Tech in the opener, getting over the 5.5 is well in play.
CFN 2018 Ole Miss Preview

14. Alabama 11.5

CFN Preseason Win Projection: 12
It’s never easy to pick anyone to go unbeaten, but the schedule is too light to predict anything else. HOWEVER, always assume one upset loss somewhere – just to be safe.
