UTEP Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
The coaching change to Dana Dimel will settle things down a bit. The program was in flux all throughout last season with nothing ever quite going right. This time around, the Miners will be more than just competitive – they’ll actually win a few games.
The offense will start to come up with a few more big plays, and it’ll finally start to score again. Once the quarterback situation is settled, the attack will start to move thanks to a solid year from the good receiving corps.
The D will need a while. The secondary might be better, and there should be more production from the line at times, but it’ll still be a struggle.
Don’t expect miracles quite yet, but it’ll be a good step forward.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 2.5
The Miners will be better – they can’t be any worse – and they’ll show it with two wins in the first four games over Northern Arizona and New Mexico State. It’ll be a fight, though, to get a win the rest of the way.
The Rice game is winnable, but that’s on the road. It might be possible to catch UAB on the right day, or pull off a shocker against a Middle Tennessee team that doesn’t focus late in the season.
Under Dimel, the Miners will get to at least three wins and start to show some hope for the near future.
