Toledo Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

This might not be the same team as last year, and there are way too many losses on both sides of the ball, but enough good parts are back to be deep in the hunt for the MAC title.

Here’s the problem, though – the Rockets have to go to Western Michigan, and they have to do to Northern Illinois. The Huskies should be a little better than the Rockets, but the Broncos aren’t. Even so, on the road, those are two dangerous enough games to keep them out of the title game.

This can and should be another great season, though, with a loaded receiving corps that should be the best among the  Group of Five programs. The quarterback play will take a step back, but the offense will still be explosive enough to overcome a decent, but not amazing, defense.

The lack of a pass rush will be a problem early on, and there will be issues along the way against Buffalo and even Bowling Green. But it’s Toledo – it’ll be yet another winning year and another season when it’s deep in the hunt for the MAC title until the end.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 8.5

The Rockets won’t be able to get past Miami at home – but it’ll be a fun showdown – and they’ll struggle on the road against Fresno State.

They’ll split the key MAC road games against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois, and they’ll drop one MAC home game against either Buffalo or Central Michigan.

This will be like 2014, when the team won eight regular season games, and came up with a bowl win. Make it five years in a row with nine victories or more.
