2018 Preseason CFN Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year

QB Brett Rypien, Sr. Boise State
It’s been a fantastic career for Rypien, leading Boise State to a Mountain West title last season and with close to 10,000 career passing yards with 60 touchdowns.

He’s not going to add much as a runner, and he’s not all that big, but he has managed to do a wonderful job of spreading the ball around. He’ll have to do that even more this year without a star No. 1 target to work with, but he’ll still be the leader and star of what should once again be the league’s best team.

2018 Preseason CFN Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year

S Andrew Wingard, Sr. Wyoming
With the honor of being college football’s best defensive player you probably haven’t seen, the 6-0, 210-pound Wingard has tackled just about everything over the last three seasons with 367 stops to go along with eight interceptions.

A guided missile to the ball, he did more against the pass last season, using his fantastic speed to go along with his toughness. It’s not crazy – depending on if Wyoming plays 13 or 14 games – that he finishes his career with 500 tackles.
