2018 Preseason CFN Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year

QB Will Grier, Sr. West Virginia
Baker Mayfield is gone, and so is Mason Rudolph. Now it’s up to Grier to fill the void as the Big 12’s superstar quarterback. With David Sills and Gary Jennings to throw to, he will.

The 6-2, 215-pounder has a live, accurate arm and the fearless attitude to bomb away against anyone. A wee bit streaky, when he’s on, West Virginia will be unstoppable. If all goes right, he should hit the 4,000-yard mark with ease – he threw for 3,490 last year missing a little bit of time – with 40 scores. More importantly, he should be able to lead the Mountaineers to the Big 12 Championship game.

2018 Preseason CFN Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year

LB Joe Dineen, Sr. Kansas
It doesn’t seem quite right that the league’s best defensive player is on – likely – the league’s worst team, but Dineen has really been that good. An all-star last season with 137 tackles and 25 tackles for loss, he got in on seemingly every play – and there were lots of moments he had to deal with. Assume at least another 120+ tackle season, and really, expect Kansas to be a little bit better.
