The rest of the college football world might not agree, but the SEC champ is almost always going to get the benefit of every doubt from the College Football Playoff committee.
Of course, if the four other Power Five champs are unbeaten or have just one loss, they’re in over a two-loss SEC champion, but last season, Auburn would’ve absolutely been in had it beaten Georgia in the SEC title game.
Considering there’s no way, no how the other Power Five champs are going to be unbeaten, Georgia controls its world. Get to Atlanta in early December at 11-1, beat Alabama – or whatever team was good enough to beat Alabama – and that’s it. It’ll be in.
Of course, go 13-0, and be the No. 1 seed.
But even if there happen to be two losses in the regular season, as long as Georgia wins the SEC title, it should find its way in …
