Ohio State Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

It’ll be yet another year when Ohio State comes close, but just short.

This will almost certainly be the best team in the Big Ten again once all the young players grow up, but with a new quarterback, so many new starters on defense, and just enough uncertainty in a few key road games that two losses might be coming.

Lose two games, miss out on the College Football Playoff.

The running game will be devastating, Dwayne Haskins will be fantastic thanks to the loaded receiving corps, and there will be times when the defense takes over and shuts games down. However, again, the uncertainty with all of the new moving parts and new key starters, there will be that one extra loss the team can’t afford to have.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 10.5

At TCU, at Penn State, at Michigan State. The Buckeyes have to be good enough to win two of those three, and if those two are against the Nittany Lions and the Spartans, they’re in the Big Ten Championship again.

There’s no Wisconsin to deal with from the West, and there’s Iowa to worry about this time around. However, if you’re looking for the possible Iowa City Meltdown-like moment on the slate, going to Purdue might be a problem and traveling to Maryland should be tougher than it seems – if the Terps have a healthy quarterback.

Eventually, Michigan is going to beat Ohio State again, but that’s in Columbus. Nebraska and Minnesota will be better – they’re both Big Ten X factors – and Indiana might be sneaky-good if Arizona QB transfer Brandon Dawkins is great.

10-2 is a fantastic season for just about anyone else, and it will be for the Buckeyes, too. It won’t be for the 2019 top three team that’ll be absolutely loaded with experience and talent.
