Boise State Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

Last year’s team was good enough to have made a push for the New Year’s Six slot. Instead, it had to settle for a Mountain West title and a bowl win over Oregon.

Boo hoo.

And now, this year’s team should be better, especially defensively. It’s a loaded group of all-stars that will be a problem for anyone and everyone that doesn’t force a ton of takeaways. Unfortunately for the rest of the Mountain West, the Broncos were first in the conference and eighth in the nation in fewest turnovers.

But there are just enough landmines to be a little bit of a problem. Even so, expect nothing less than another run to the conference championship game, and with bar set at New Year’s Six or bust.

As long as the receivers can rise up and rock, and if QB Brett Rypien stays in one piece, nothing else will be okay.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 10

The first half of the season is more than just sneaky-tough; it’s dangerous.

Going to Troy won’t be a layup to kickoff a run of four road games in the first six, and hosting San Diego State won’t be easy. Throw in home dates against Colorado State, BYU and Fresno State, and as good as the Broncos are, they won’t be able to simply sleepwalk through the home slate.

Expect a loss at Oklahoma State, and one other slip along the way – the Air Force offense could work on the right day in Colorado Springs, Wyoming is a tough road game, and San Diego State and Fresno State are conference big boys.

They’ll win nine games, and they’ll either get the tenth victory in the Mountain West title game or the bowl.
