Texas Tech Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

Here’s the problem. Texas Tech is never going to beat anyone because of its defense, and yet, that’s the probable strength early on.

It’ll still have to get into shootouts and outbomb teams – and it will from time to time – but there are way too many moving parts at quarterback and receiver for a program that has to be able to lock down the quarterback and the receivers.

The production will be there, but will it be enough to get into shootouts with Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and the rest of the great offenses on the schedule?

Not enough.

The defense will rise up from time to time, but the offense will be too spotty. Even so, the Red Raiders will get back to a bowl game, but they’ll have to fight to get there, again.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 5.5

The concerns about the passing game and the sure-thing offensive stars will be enough to keep the total low, but to borrow a phrase, when they go low, you’ll go high.

To get to six wins and bowl eligibility, the Red Raiders have to come up with wins over Lamar, Houston, Kansas and Baylor. Beating Iowa State in Ames would be nice, and getting by Ole Miss would be plus to get to six wins.

And if there’s a shootout win in Lubbock over West Virginia and/or Texas along the way, that would be nice, too.
