San Jose State Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

The Spartans can’t be any worse, and they won’t be.

There weren’t a whole lot of signs of life last season with one of the nation’s worst offense and a defense that was even worse, but it all starts with doing the little things right.

Stop with the penalties, stop with all of the turnovers, stop with the mistakes that turned games into routs so early.

On the positive side, there are more options now after going through all of those growing pains. The offense will start to find something that works – likely with more coming from the right quarterback in place – and the improved drives will take the stress of the defense.

No, the wins aren’t coming in a hurry, but at least the team will be more competitive. With all 11 losses in big blowouts, there will be a little bit of a turn. It’ll be slow and steady, but you won’t have San Jose State to push around anymore – at least for half of the season.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 3.5

If the team that was so, so, so bad could end up winning two games last season, it might be possible to double that, even if it’s a struggle.

Making it a bit harder is the one fewer game, but still, the Spartans should beat UC Davis and win a home game against a Hawaii or Nevada or UNLV. Will they be good enough to pull off an upset at Utah State after losing 61-10 last year? Can they stun Colorado State or Army?

They’ll be a lock to get to three wins, but considering they’ll likely be the underdog in all 11 FBS games, it’ll take a perfect performance and a clunker from three opponents to get four wins or more.
