Rutgers Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
The program will take another big step forward under Chris Ash with – finally – a little more offense to go along with the deepest and best defense the program has enjoyed over the last three seasons.
It’s not time to start printing up Big Ten Championship t-shirts quite yet.
Even so, with more of a downfield passing game to go along with a promising ground attack, there will be points again. There will be times when this starts to look like a real, live Big Ten team – at least against the lesser squads – and the potential to go bowling is there.
The Scarlet Knights will come up just short, but it’ll be a strong enough season to have a little fun.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 5
It’ll almost all have to happen over the first two months because forget about November with at Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State and at Michigan State to close. However, beating Texas State, Buffalo, Indiana and Illinois at home will be a must, and getting by Kansas on the road has to be expected. At the very least, the Scarlet Knights have to be 4-1 in those five.
Assuming the Terps won’t be hurt like they were last season when Rutgers won 31-24, can there be a slight stunner at Maryland? How about a home win over Northwestern? They’ll have to come up with an upset or two somewhere.
After winning four games last season, the better team should be able to get to five. Getting that sixth will take a fight.
