Rice Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
It’ll be a rough first run for new head coach Mike Bloomgren.
The running game will need to work, but the line isn’t good enough to power over anyone, and there isn’t a sure thing anywhere in the passing game to keep up if the team gets down early.
As long as there’s a direction, and as long as the offense starts to show a positive identity, it’ll be a good first season of building up the program. Both will happen, and then the enthusiasm of Bloomgren will kick in.
Between the grad transfer departures, the lack of bulk on the lines, and the reliance on a slew of freshmen to produce right away, it’ll be a rocky year. However, the system will start to work as the season goes on.
There will be points again.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 3
Start with a win over Prairie View A&M, and then hope for a few tough victories in a slew of winnable home games.
Outside of the road game at LSU there isn’t a game the Owls absolutely can’t be competitive in, but they probably won’t be favored against anyone but UTEP. Win at home against the Miners, and then sneak an extra win or two against a UTSA, a UAB, or an Old Dominion, and all of a sudden, the rebuild will start to look like it’s on the fast track.
