New Mexico Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
Even with all of the issues with the coaching staff, and despite the meltdown last season, the Lobos will bounce back just enough to be okay. They won’t hit the nine-win mark like they did in 2016, but they’ll beat the three-win mark of last season.
The explosion for the running game will return – at least at times. It might not be a dominant force that will take over the Mountain West like it used to, but it’ll improve under new offensive coordinator Calvin Magee enough to be more effective.
It’ll be another losing season, but it won’t be as painful.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 5.5
The Lobos will beat Incarnate Word, Liberty, and throw in a Mountain West win somewhere against a Utah State and/or UNLV on the road. And then it’ll be a fight.
If the running game really does start to work again, expect a win over New Mexico State, and a upset along the way no one will see coming – like at Colorado State or Air Force.
With Fresno State, San Diego State, Boise State and Wyoming coming to Albuquerque, there will be at least one big home win to get to at least five wins.
It might come down to the Wyoming game at the end of the regular season to get to six wins and a bowl.
