Indiana Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
Last year’s team had the defense in place to rock, and the Hoosiers finished 5-7, going 0-6 when allowing more than 17 points.
This year, it’s going to be up to the offense to keep up and do its part, but the defense won’t fall off the map.
The experience on the O, and the addition of Arizona transfer QB Brandon Dawkins, will beef up the production, but the big plays have to be there and the running game has to improve – both will happen.
However, it’ll be another inconsistent season with a few too many close-call losses. Even so, the program has improved the athleticism and overall talent level to be deep in the hunt for a bowl game.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 5
The Hoosiers aren’t as good as they were last season, but can they be one win better to get bowl eligible to make it a third six-win season in the last four years?
As long as they can get by FIU in Miami in the opener, beat Virginia for a second year in a row, and beat Ball State, they’ll be 3-0. However, the winnable dates against Rutgers and Minnesota are on the road, and dealing with Iowa, Maryland and Purdue might have to yield at least two wins at home.
It’s not that awful a slate – IU has to get bowl eligible, or the season will be a clunker.
