Preview 2018: Florida Gators. Bringing Fun Back To The Swamp

Florida Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

The big turnaround isn’t going to happen quite yet, but this will be the season that gets Gator fans fired up – the big things are coming.

The quarterback situation is going to be okay. Not great, not good enough to win the SEC East, but okay. Fortunately, the rest of the skill players will be strong enough to help out the cause.

The real difference will be a veteran defense that will immediately take to the  switch to the 3-4 alignment. The secondary will be terrific, the pass rush will be strong, and the production will come after a down year.

Can the kicking game get the job done? Replacing P Johnny Townsend and PK Eddy Pineiro will be a problem, but the special teams won’t fall off the map.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 8

Doubling the win total shouldn’t be a problem, but does the team have enough in the back to do even more?

On the plus side, Florida will be a lot better, and after losing to LSU by one, Texas A&M by two, and in a tough 28-20 fight against South Carolina, it might not take too much more to be a whole lot better.

On the other side … the SEC East should be stronger overall, and Georgia isn’t going anywhere.

The Gators should be able to rock against Charleston Southern, get their annual win over Kentucky, beat Colorado State, and take down Idaho and Vanderbilt for a base of five wins. With LSU, Missouri and South Carolina all in Gainesville, assume at least one win against those three, and hope for two.

At Tennessee, at Mississippi State, Georgia, and at Florida State – win two of those, and the season should be fun.

Got all that?

Florida will win two massive games, win a big 50/50 battle, and lose a game it shouldn’t to hover around 8-4.
