Florida Atlantic Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
All the pieces are there to be as good, or even better. But FAU won’t be there in the final standings.
The running game will be amazing again thanks to Devin Singletary, and the defense that returns ten starters will be outstanding, and Lane Kiffin and the coaching staff will be great. But now FAU is the hunted, and the rest of Conference USA is going to be too strong to be able to do that again.
Forgetting the non-conference road games against UCF and Oklahoma – not to mention the home date against Air Force – the Owls have a nightmare of a C-USA slate to deal with. More on that in a moment.
However, the team is too loaded to not win the conference crown again. Just watch out for Marshall, though.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 8.5
The investment public will be all over the Owls.
Lane Kiffin will be everywhere, most outlets will gush in the preseason rankings, and the prevailing belief will be that the dominance will continue.
But they’ll lose at Oklahoma and will split between Air Force and at UCF. They might be better than all the great league teams they’ll play on the road, but they’ll lose two of the four key away dates at Middle Tennessee, Marshall, FIU and North Texas. They’ll also lose to either Louisiana Tech or WKU at home.
So, assume a bowl, assume a good year, but also, assume around eight wins or fewer.
