Auburn Prediction: What’s Going To Happen

The defense will be terrific. It’s tough to stand out in a league and a division with so many great Ds, but the Tigers will build on a strong 2017 and be even better on that side of the ball.

The skill players will be more than fine. Jarrett Stidham will come up with a big season, and he’s got the backfield to take the heat off along with enough receiving talents to make it all go.

But can the offensive line get the job done?

Auburn always finds the parts to make the front five just fine, but it has to be even stronger than it was last year, and with too many new parts to come out roaring.

However, most of the big games are at home – at least until late – and there’s no reason to expect anything less than another trip to the New Year’s Six. With the Iron Bowl in Alabama this year, though, getting back to the SEC Championship will require a minor miracle.

Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 9.5

At Georgia and at Alabama. The line will be set based around the theory that Auburn will lose both of those November games, but there are a whole slew of other problems with the schedule.

Washington might just be the best team in the Pac-12 – that’s the opener in Atlanta. Auburn will be favored in that, and most of the tough games are at home, but it still has to get by LSU, and improved Arkansas, a tougher Tennessee, and Texas A&M.

The Tigers have to get through all of that unscathed, they still have those brutal road dates at the end, Even getting a split out of those two will be tough, but Auburn might just be good enough to get to Athens 9-0 to make it interesting.
