Oh will this be fun.

Jake Fromm might have been this close to winning a national championship, but Justin Fields is going to be really, really, really good.

Over 82,000 people showed up to watch the first real chance to see the quarterback duel that will be among the huge national storylines over the next four months, and the new guy looked fantastic.

And his Black offense beat Fromm’s Red attack.

Fromm had a pass tipped for a pick-six by Deandre Baker, but he was still more than fine, connecting on 19-of-38 passes for 200 yards and a score with two interceptions.

But Fields looks like he’ll be a whole lot of fun, starting with this …

Fields needs to tighten up that throwing motion, but the touch, the accuracy, and the mobility are all obviously there to come out roaring. He connected on 18-of-33 passes for 207 yards and a score with an interception, but is that going to be enough?

Yeah, Fields is the shiny new guy, but Fromm is special, too.

This isn’t like the Alabama quarterback issue with two totally different skill sets at play. This is going to have to be a straight-up Face of the Franchise call for the next few years.

Best Guess On Fall Depth Chart: 1) Fromm, 2) Fields
