NFL Draft 2018: Sun Belt Edition
The NFL drags America through three days of drafting, starting on Thursday. Who from the Sun Belt is most likely to hear his name?
Last year, the Sun Belt saw a bump in NFL draft production, inking five to pro contracts. The previous two years totaled only six, leading many (me) to wonder if the Belt had lost its mojo.
This year’s Sun Belt draft corral lacks surefire bets like Troy’s Antonio Garcia (2017) or South Alabama’s Wes Saxton, but the stable is strong nonetheless. Will the Sun Belt best last year’s total? Hey, maybe!
The Green Room Five
Colby Gossett, OL, Appalachian State
Ja’Von Rolland-Jones, DE, Arkansas State
Trey Walker, DB, Louisiana
Jaleel Scott, WR, New Mexico State
Chandon Sullivan, DB, Georgia State
Rolland-Jones ad Scott have the resume, and Gossett put in the best Combine. These three seem the be the safest bets.
Guys With Some Buzz
Jeremy Reaves, DB, South Alabama
Brandon Silvers, QB, Troy
Blake Mack, TE, Arkansas State
Larry Rose, RB, New Mexico State
Eric Boggs, LB, Appalachian State
Aikeem Coleman, DE, Idaho
Jordon Chunn, RB, Troy
Jaline Moore, RB, Appalachian State
All these guys deserve a pick, especially the RBs on the list, who are some of the finest in Sun Belt history.
Dudes Who’ll Get a Sniff (and an FA Contract)
Dee Liner, DL, Arkansas State
Matt Linehan, QB, Idaho
Taylor Lamb, QB, Appalachian State
Steven Rowzee, OL, Troy
Tee Simms, DL, Appalachian State
