BYU Prediction: What’s Going To Happen
It’s not going to be a tale of two seasons like normal, mostly because the schedule isn’t backloaded with easy games like it’s been over the past few seasons.
The offense will be better – it can’t be any worse – but it’s still not going to be special enough to get by the bigger boys on the schedule. However, as bad as last year was, three of the losses came by a touchdown or less. Get a little more offensive pop, win those close games, and it’s a winning season.
Or, at least, a bowl run.
The D should do its part and come up with more plays behind the line, and the offense, again, will start to have more pop in key parts.
No, BYU won’t score 20 points or fewer in nine games again.
Guessing The Preseason Regular Season Win Total Will Be Set At … 7
The Cougars won’t be able to beat Wisconsin or Washington, and they’re going to struggle on the road at Arizona and Boise State. However, the rest of the games are in play, including the regular season ender at Utah.
They’ll take down McNeese State, Utah State, Hawaii and New Mexico State at home to equal the four wins of last season. Assume a win at UMass, and hope for a victory at home against Northern Illinois, and there’s the six-win season and a bowl spot.
But can BYU get a few wins against at Arizona, Cal, at Wisconsin, at Washington, at Boise State and at Utah – and can it avoid clunking in any of the assumed wins? Yeah, seven wins will be a good bar.
